Bb Blues Comping – Combining Voicings

8.00

In this lesson the focus is on associating different types of voicings and get to the point that you don’t really think about what voicings you are playing. In a playing situation you should worry about the melody and the rhythm that you want to play.

The main goal here is to group together a lot of chords and then be able to use them without thinking about what chord or what voicing it is. Thereforthe e exercises are easy and progressive, so you should be able to go through them one after the other and in the process expand your vocabulary and ability to comp on a Bb Blues.

Description

When playing and practicing jazz blues comping it is easy to get caught up in over-thinking or over-analyzing things. When we play that is not what you want to spend your energy on. Therefore, it is very important to find ways of using and tying together things like chord voicings. We want to solve complex equations when we play but can focus on the music.
This lesson is a set of exercises (each one chorus long) to help you develop and be more free to create interesting comping ideas.
