Description
The Jazz Blues sound is almost a magical part of the Jazz Vocabulary. That grey area where Jazz-lines, arpeggios and chromatic embellishment meets the Blues vocabulary with rich phrasing and strong melodies.
This lesson package will give you some vocabulary and some insight into how you can access the jazz blues language and get it into your playing. So, you can take the harmony of Jazz and Bebop and fuse it with the expressive ideas of the Blues.
The lesson has two main parts. Two exercises focusing on double-stops and how to practice and use them followed by a short solo that utilizes a lot of jazz blues melodies. I am borrowing quite a few ideas from people like George Benson, Grant Green, and Joe Pass. Musicians I consider masters of this aspect of jazz-improvisation.
The main goal here is to give you some material that you can play and get into your system so that you can hear how this can be used in a musical context.
