Description
There is more to Jazz than playing long 8th note lines. A big part of what we love about the solos is often also the shorter, simpler and more syncopated phrases that make up a huge part of what our favorite artists play. When I am talking about this type of playing then you should think of the solos of people like Kenny Burrell, Wes Montgomery, and Grant Green. But really it is also present in a lot of other of the great jazz guitarists, Jim Hall comes to mind often.
This lesson will help you build your vocabulary and skills when it comes to playing phrases with more jazz rhythm and better phrasing.
Going through the solo and analysis you will develop
– Phrases and motifs with more rhythm
– How you can use rhythm in jazz a solo
– Phrasing and melodic playing from both swing and bebop
The lesson is built around a 4-chorus solo on the Bebop Classic Ladybird, that is transcribed and analyzed.
