Description
This lesson consists of 2 choruses of solo on the Rhythm Changes progression. The first chorus is mostly demonstrating the approach that I described in the free lesson: Rhythm Changes – Part 1, using arpeggios and diatonic scales. The 2nd chorus is a more extended approach with more chords, scales, alterations and chromatic passing notes.
Simplifying changes to play fast tempos
The purpose of the lesson is to demonstrate how useful the “simplified” progression approach in the free lesson is and how you can make really good solos with that approach. For the rest it is also just an etude trying to help develop ideas for melodic and rhythmical choices in your solos on rhythm changes. This is also discussed at length in the video lesson.
